Tony Gorschek, assistant professor at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), will give a docent lecture on Thursday the 22nd of May between 13:00-14:00 at BTH, Campus Ronneby, in the lecture room Smaragden. The title of the lecture is Technical Product Management for Software Intensive Systems - Challenges and Opportunities in a Market-driven Environment
Market-Driven Requirements Engineering (MDRE) handles the continuous flow of requirements in an software engineering effort. It is a ongoing activity and not limited to a software development project but part of technical product management as a whole. The market-driven environment generates large amounts of requirements from multiple sources, internal and external, threatening to overload the technical management of products. MDRE involves requirements analysis, resource estimation, prioritization, and ultimately release planning. These activities allow for effectively deciding which customers get what features and quality at what point in time. This makes the accuracy and efficiency of MDRE a major factor deciding the success of a product.
The lecture gives an overview of MDRE as well as the unique challenges associated with technical product management in industry. A brief overview is also given of research being conducted as a response to some of these challenges including two frameworks developed by the lecturer which were devised and developed in close collaboration with industry, and subsequently validated in industry.
The lecture is open for the public, and will take approximately 45 minutes, followed by questions and a discussion.
The research has been conducted within the SERL-group, or its predecessors. http://www.bth.se/tek/serl and BESQ Research Centre. http://www.bth.se/besq
